Spirit
In midlife we begin to realize that life is half over. That’s what “mid-life” means. And the long ignored “end” is not that far away. Now that’s a gloomy thought. But not so. Spirituality gives us hope in spite of ourselves.
I believe that each of us on this earth has the spirit of “the Other” within us. Give “Other” whichever name you wish: God, Universal Power, Jesus, Allah, Jehovah, Buddha – it doesn’t really matter.
I believe our purpose on this earth is this: to find our way home to “Other.” That’s it. How we find our way is unique and individual. Life presents options. We choose pathways. Sometimes they go well, sometimes not. But we continue on the journey, continuing to move forward.
Recently I read the best selling book The Shack by William P. Young. It presents the idea of the “Other” in a most enlightened way. You might enjoy it.
